Theater is an expression of the basic human need for communication. The New York-based performance artist David Rodgers will hold a seminar on the creation of theater as method of communicating. In the seminar the participants will explore the character of theatrical creativity and theater as a means of artistic expression. They are asked to bring along an idea, a concept or a problem out of which a live performance will be worked out during the seminar.
The seminar is centered on the creation of a play, divided into individual tasks such as script writing, direction, acting and performance. The participants will learn how each of these elements can influence the impact of their play as a whole. Further topics are improvisation, experiment and documentation. The lessons are held with the aid of physical activities, non-verbal demonstrations and instructions in simple English. All age groups are welcome.
