A 16th century half-timbered building, Schloss Homburg was built upon steeply rising tuff above the Burkardus Grotto.

Every year on October 12, the Grotto, nucleus of the village, is the goal of the festive procession of St. Burkadus, the first bishop of Würzburg.

With its open view over the vinyards along the Main River, the Schloss is elevated above Homburg and has been a location for contemporary art since 1998.
